Description:
North Shore Data Services is seeking a Senior Network/Systems Engineer to manage, monitor, maintain, document, install, and configure its clients networking, firewall and business systems environments with extensive experience in complex, heterogeneous networking environments.
We are looking for someone with an advanced engineering skillset capable of delivering many different IT solutions. You should be able to work both independently and collaboratively to complete your daily tasks. This person will serve as part of a talented team of engineers who collectively demonstrate excellent technical competency, reliability in delivering mission critical infrastructure, and who continually ensure the highest levels of accessibility, optimization, and security. The position requires the application of infrastructure design and hands-on application of varied technologies to include but not limited to networking, server virtualization, security best practices, monitoring and reporting to deliver committed measurable results. They will also have the ability to support sales activities by discussing and presenting technology solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, architect/design, plan, install, document, maintain, and troubleshoot complex virtual environments in public and private cloud, including:
- VMware, Azure, AWS, Citrix infrastructure deployment and management.
- Windows Server, AD, and Group Policy.
- Profile, OS, and application environment management.
- Experience and Technical Expertise with the configuration and management of:
- Cisco Networking Equipment.
- HPE Networking Equipment (switches, wireless).
- Extreme Networking Equipment (switches, wireless).
- Firewalls (SonicWALL, Cisco, Fortinet etc).
- VPN
- Continual maintenance of security, including backup and redundancy strategies using Veeam and StorageCraft.
- Project scoping, troubleshooting, problem resolution, documentation, and customer management
- Demonstrated success in managing and delivering assigned projects on time and on budget.
- Pre-sales technical support to include but not limited to:
- Consultative meetings to discuss and understand business needs of customers.
- Design best of breed solutions to fill customer’s needs.
- Scoping of professional services in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
- Support and provide knowledge transfer to clients both in person and via other means of communication.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision, and within a team when so assigned.
- Technical Support: Provide advanced subject matter expertise and level 3 support services to the IT Operations teams.
- Provide production support, architecture, life-cycle management, configuration and maintenance of switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networks and network appliances and systems.
- Provide solid understanding of secure network architecture.
- Building, upgrading and configuring new and existing system components.
- Must be able to work outside normal business hours on occasion.
- Local travel may also be required.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in information technology services (5+ years in a service-based environment) is required.
- Significant experience and understanding of routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) MPLS, Wireless technologies, design and implementation, VoIP, VPN, QoS, Layer 2&3 switching and VLANs, data center and enterprise switching, and WAN design best practice.
- Knowledge of server virtualization and Microsoft enterprise environments.
- Technical Certifications (ex. CCNP, CCIE, VCP).
- Experience with Network Performance Monitoring Tools (ex. PRTG, SolarWinds etc).
- Systems/Storage (e.g. EqualLogic, Compellent, EMC, HP etc).
- Converged/Hyper-converged infrastructure (e.g. VXRail, vBlock, Nutanix).
- Authentication methodologies: SSO, Active Directory, and/or LDAP, Radius, TACACS+.
- Application and Client Networking: DHCP, DNS, Load Balancing and Wireless.
- Windows server and desktop platforms and management.
- Mobile device management.
- Application and Server Backup and Recovery.
- Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems a plus
